Lest We Forget
Lest We Forget is an innovative archival and research initiative that documents Emirati vernacular cultural memory and generates contemporary responses through the use of artistic language. Lest We Forget collaborates with individuals, families and communities to create artistic books, exhibitions, films, animations, product designs and even an opera. The initiative offers an internship program to university students as well as volunteer opportunities to the public. Lest We Forget is supported by the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and based at Warehouse421, Abu Dhabi.
Lest We Forget has worked in partnership with numerous institutions, including: the Department of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Tolerance, the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE National Pavilion, the Founder’s Memorial, Zayed University, New York University Abu Dhabi, Yale-NUS, L’Ecole Van Cleef and Arpels, Expo2020, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and the UAE National Day Committee.
